1. JA Elementary Presentations

At the February board meeting, we heard from three JA Elementary teachers on the successes of their programs. In Pre-K, Ms. Johnson shared the success of the inaugural year of the program, which is providing a strong foundation for early learning and social development. We are excited to see how JA Pre-K is setting students on a positive trajectory for future academic achievement. Ms. Miller is one of our two dedicated literary interventionists. She showcased the targeted interventions they provide in supporting struggling readers and improving literacy rates, which has led to an overwhelming amount of students moving off READ plans this year. Ms. Carroll showed us the creative ways she is engaging students in technology through coding and collaboration with Mr. Everett's SEL program. We highly recommend you watch this video to understand the impressive things kids in technology are achieving.

2. SAC Survey is LIVE!

The School Accountability Committee has crafted a brand new parent and caregiver survey this year with busy families in mind. The survey will take only five minutes (or less) to complete and in turn will give the board and the school as a whole valuable information about the successes and opportunities we have. SAC will also be hosting a daily spirit wear giveaway for those that complete the survey. Your school board is asking for full participation so that we can continue to ensure greatness in all of our schools. The survey will be open 2/18 - 2/28. Look for the survey link in your email, or contact Tiffany Blakley for the link.

3. 2025-2026 School Calendars

The board approved calendars for all campuses for the following school year at the February meeting. Jefferson Academy and Summit have their own calendars separate from Jeffco. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the principals and Mr. Matlick for continuing to align calendars at all of our JA campuses. This is no small undertaking and we know our families appreciate the cohesiveness. You can now view the calendar for your campus here:

4. Secondary Track Improvement Project

The school board's approval of the track grandstands at the February meeting marks a significant step forward in enhancing the school's athletic facilities. The new grandstands will improve the overall experience for both athletes and the community, while also supporting school spirit. Negotiations for the track rebuild project are still underway and we are hopeful the construction for this will wrap up by the start of the new school year.

5. Board Elections

Did you know elections for the Jefferson Academy board are underway? We are currently accepting candidate letters from parents and caregivers at ALL of our campuses and the election will take place at the beginning of May. Our school board provides an opportunity to represent diverse voices, address challenges, and work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment. Ultimately, serving on the school board allows individuals to help shape the educational system of our school and positively impact the next generation.
