JA Secondary Family Newsletter

SCHOOL NEWS

As a reminder, once students are dropped off on campus in the mornings, they will not be allowed to leave campus prior to the start of school (such as leaving to walk to 7-Eleven).   Parents please communicate the importance of this policy with your students for their safety and the security of all of our students and staff.  If your child wants to purchase something from 7-Eleven please be sure to stop with them prior to dropping them off.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP REMINDERS - Currently the entire pedestrian sidewalk is closed along the south side of W. 113th. Due to this development, we are asking parents to avoid using the entire south side lane for student pick-up in the afternoon. During pick-up, you can park along Reed Way, where there is a bike lane. You can also park on the north side of W. 113th.

Also, please be mindful that MKS across the street has asked that families do not drop off or pick up students in their parking lot.  It is not a public lot, that is their private business and MKS can choose to take further steps, including ticketing you, if they feel it is necessary.  Please be respectful of their property.

Finally, be sure you are picking up or dropping off your student in a safe area.  It is illegal and extremely dangerous to pick up students in the middle of the road or the intersection.

CLASS OF 2026 PARENTS AND STUDENTS - Save the date for your first senior/parent meeting on Thursday, September 18, at 6:00 pm in the Commons.  We will go over the details for Graduation and a representative from Jostens will share information on ordering regalia, announcements and class rings.  All seniors and at least one parent are expected to attend.  Please contact Mrs. Leoni (aleoni@jajags.com) with questions.

CMAS & SAT REPORTS DELIVERED TO STUDENTS - Last Wednesday, 9/3–CMAS reports for current 8th & 9th grade students (who attended JA last school year) and SAT 11 score reports were given to students. PSAT reports will be given to students this week.

CANVAS PARENT ACCOUNTS - Canvas parent/guardian accounts for new students to JA Secondary are now active. If you have another student at JA and already have a Canvas account with them, your new student should appear in your Canvas observer account, provided the email in Infinite Campus matches.

If you are setting up a new account, go to the Canvas for Parents page on our website for help. You will need to set your password for the initial login by following the steps on this page.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY CONNECTION SURVEY - Please take a moment to complete this year’s Family and Community Connection Survey: Family and Community Connection Survey.
