SCHOOL NEWS
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
We are looking for volunteers to assist our school nurse and clinic aide with hearing and vision screening on November 12th and 13th. If you are interested and have time, please reach out to our clinic aide, Ms. Murray, amurray@jajags.com
STUDENT FEES
Now that the add/drop period has ended for the second quarter, student fee statements will be sent out. Just some reminders about student fees:
Parking passes are only required if your student intends to park on campus. If they are not driving, yet, or are not driving to school, then you do not need to buy a pass. Also, the price does drop at the beginning of the second semester. So, you can wait if they do not get their license until then.
Any fee beginning with OPT is optional and only needs to be paid if you want that item.
The Tech fee is not for a class but goes to support our school-wide licenses, security, and infrastructure.
Not everything needs to be paid at once. You can select which fees you want to pay at that time.
Thank you for your support of our programs with the student fees. They help us provide the best experiences for your student(s). Payments can be made online through Infinite Campus or at the front office. If you have any questions about your fees, please contact Craig Melville (cmelville@jajags.com).
OPEN HOUSE ON NOVEMBER 11TH
Do you have family or friends who are interested in having their student attend JA Secondary? Our annual Prospective Family Open House is a great time for families who want to learn about all the amazing opportunities that JA Secondary has to offer students and see our school. We will open our doors and offer student-led tours on Tuesday, November 11th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
INCLEMENT WEATHER REMINDER
As temperatures start to change, the potential for bad weather increases too. Jefferson Academy follows Jeffco Public schools decisions on school closures and 2-Hour delays due to inclement weather. If Jeffco closes schools or issues a 2-Hour delay, then JA will follow. We will communicate closures and delays via email and text messages, phone calls, social media and our websites.
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING SURVEY RESULTS
On September 24th, students took a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey by Panorama Education. This was a self-assessment in areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. We use the results to guide workshops that our Student Support team can lead and lessons that can be integrated within the classroom by teachers. Our first workshop is designed for Junior High students and will focus on self-management and relationship skills. Students are invited based on their survey responses. Both parent and student received an email last week with workshop details. We strongly encourage attendance so that students can have the opportunity to grow in the areas they self-identified.
