The boys' varsity soccer team has reached the 2nd round of the 3A State Playoffs! Their next game is tomorrow evening, November 4th, versus Lamar at Pinnacle Charter School. Game time is 6:00pm. There is no admission charge.
The Lamar Thunder have had a good season in the 3A Tri-Peaks League, where they finished with a 2-1 record, 12-4 overall. The Thunder finished the regular season on a six-game winning streak, scoring 34 goals and registering a 28 goal differential during the run. On their way to the 2nd round, they defeated Weld Central by a score of 1-0.
The Thunder is led by Brendyn Batemon (Sr), who scored 27 goals and accumulated 57 points this season. He's currently 4th in 3A in goals and 8th in points. Another player to watch is Alex Santos. The junior forward has netted 16 goals and leads the team in assists (13).
As mentioned, tomorrow night's game is at Pinnacle Charter School's Athletic Complex. It's located at 8650 Conifer Road in Thornton. We would like to thank the school for allowing us to host the game under the lights.
On the other side of the Quad 4 bracket, 7th seed Coal Ridge is playing 10th seed Atlas Preparatory. The game is at 3:00pm in Coal Ridge. If the Jags can get a win, the Quarterfinal round will be played on Saturday afternoon.
