SCHOOL NEWS
STUDENT IDS
If your student missed picture day and was not able to get their student ID on August 13th, we will have temporary IDs available for them to use for school lunch purchases. Have your student stop by the main office on the first day of school or anytime during the first week.
STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS ARE READY FOR THE FIRST DAY!!
Thanks to Ms. Davis and the JA Staff for getting all the chromebooks ready for students! This means students DO NOT NEED to bring devices to school on Monday, August 17th. JA will now be providing on-campus classroom devices beginning August 17th. This decision was made to create consistency within classrooms, allow for increased security measures, and decrease family expenses. School chromebooks will only be available for on-campus use, will not be assigned as a personal student device, and will not be taken home.
Student’s personal devices will not be allowed on campus for use and students will only need an at-home device. Should you have difficulty providing a student device, please contact Jen Davis, Technology Coordinator, jdavis@jajags.com to discuss possible options.
STUDENT SCHEDULES
All student schedules are now visible in Infinite Campus for Jeffco Public schools. Both parents and students have an IC login. Schedule changes can be requested by students via email. 7th-9th grade students should email Ms. Adams (kadams@jajags.com) and 10th-12th grade students should email Ms. LeValley (alevalley@jajags.com). Schedule changes for Quarter 1 will end on Tuesday, August 19th @ 3pm.
IMPORTANT CELL PHONE UPDATE
You have probably heard about our new cell phone policy. This will go into effect on the first day of school. Jefferson Academy has adopted a “Bell to Bell No Cell Phone Use Policy” which means that cell phones are not allowed to be used on campus during the entire school day from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm or from “Bell to Bell - No Cell.”
In June 2026 our Board of Directors approved the new Personal Technology Policy which outlines the use of cell phone use at school.
Cell phones will not be allowed in any classroom at any time. Cell phones will not be allowed during passing times in the hallway, cell phones will not be allowed before school in the lunchroom or at lunch time. Cell phones will not be allowed during free periods or off periods when students are on the JA campus. Your child’s cell phone needs to be turned off and in their backpack, and cannot at any time be brought out during the school day. This is truly a no cell phone use policy.
We understand that this change will be challenging for our students and our parents. We ask that you work with your child and explain the new policy to them and work together to determine how you will communicate with each other. We will continue to use the “old fashioned" method of communication. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the main office. Your message will be written down and taken to your child in class. If your child needs to contact you during the school day they may come down to the office, when approved by their teacher, and use the main office phone to call you.
We will be reviewing with all students the consequences for having their cell phones out during the school day. Please click here to see the Cell Phone Consequences
Canvas parent/guardian accounts for new students to JA Secondary are now active. If you have another student at JA and already have a Canvas account with them, your new student should appear in your Canvas observer account, provided the email in Infinite Campus matches.
If you are setting up a new account, go to the Canvas for Parents page on our website for help. You will need to set your password for the initial login by following the steps on this page. The Canvas Login page for parents is not the same as the student login.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Thank you to all the families who purchased general school supplies on the supply list. Students can bring those items to the drop off area in the Commons.
LOCKERS
8-12 grade students interested in obtaining a locker can do so upon request in the office. 7th grade students can request a locker via a sign up in their 7th grade School Orientation class. Lockers will be assigned approximately the second week of school.
ATTENTION 7TH GRADE FAMILIES
If you were a JA Elementary 6th Grade Student, you are invited to go back to JA Elementary school to pick-up your chromebook from last school year. That chromebook is yours to keep and can serve as your “at-home” device to use.

PUBLIC SAFETY AT ATHLETIC EVENTS:
Public safety at our athletic events is a top priority for Jefferson Academy Athletics. We want to ensure that our spectators, student-athletes, coaches, officials, and staff feel safe and comfortable at every event. Jefferson County Public Schools Safety and Security has provided updated guidance and language that we will follow throughout this school year. I have included a letter with this information, which also includes a helpful video demonstrating how to respond appropriately if a safety issue occurs during a sporting event. Please take some time to review the information and watch the video. It is important that we are all familiar with the expectations and know how to respond if an incident occurs. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me (dquaratino@jajags.com). Thank you for helping us create a safe environment for everyone at our athletic events.
